Dedicated IP Address

 Use your own domain.
Keep your own identity.

Every FTP site on the Internet has an IP address assigned to it. The IP address is the real address of an FTP site or FTP server. Domain names were developed because it is difficult to remember IP address numbers like 123.111.222.33.

It is easier and cheaper to offer shared-IP hosting like our competitors. With shared-IP hosting there are hundreds of sites sharing a single IP address. In contrast, every site hosted by FTP Today has a dedicated IP address. This means that your site is the only one on the internet using that unique IP number.

Not only is this more stable and secure, but there are other advantages to using a dedicated IP address versus a shared IP address.

Advantages of Dedicated-IP FTP Hosting:
  • Your FTP site can have a name from your own domain such as myftp.widgetco.com.
  • Your FTP site can optionally have an SSL certificate added to it that is uniquely idenfied with your own domain.
  • Your FTP users can login with short usernames  like jsmith, instead of long usernames requiring a domain name like jsmith@widgetco.cheapftpservice.com.
  • Your FTP site can optionally support Anonymous FTP*.
* Anonymous FTP is dis-allowed by FTP Today policy, but is available on a case-by-case basis with management approval and added fees.
