For those customers who have been with FTP Today for many years, the transition from the JavaApp to the WebApp has been confusing. When it was first released in Aug 2014, the WebApp did have some functional shortcomings in comparison to the JavaApp. This is no longer the case.
FTP Today has updated all its HTTPS settings to limit the choice of SSL ciphers available to various web browsers for SSL handshaking. The most significant change was the elimination of the deprecated RC4 cipher from the list of ciphers from which a browser can choose for encrypted handshaking. There should be no adverse effects to these changes on our customers because every browser other than IE6 is still supported.
Another competitive advantage for FTP Today! As of April 17, 2015, our backup system now stores all backups in separate data center from our production environment.
We went to a Build Your Own à la carte pricing model nearly 3 months ago. Unfortunately, the marketplace did not receive it as well as we suspected. Therefore, we have brought back three levels of subscriptions (with some resemblance to the Professional, Business and Enterprise plans that were popular in the past).
UPDATE: September 22, 2014 - All remaining customer accounts were updated to the new Web interface the week of September 15-19.
À-la-carte pricing is now available starting at $49.95 per month including 1 GB of storage and 10 user accounts. Features comparable to the former "Professional" plan represent $34.95 of the $49.95 minimum, while software features previously requiring upgrades to "Business" or "Enterprise" plans are now available as modular add-ons (for as little as +$10.00 per month).
